The Reveler’s Story
To “Revel,” means to engage in uproarious festivities; to make merry; to take great pleasure or delight.
True to our name we aim for every patron to enjoy themselves, while visiting us. The name, The Reveler, came from a film produced by a Chicago native, William Selig. Mr. Selig, having been enthralled by a movie making device at The World Fair in Chicago, had a team build him one of his own. Using that machine, he produced the first black and white, silent film. With great success, Mr. Selig built his first film studio in the Chicago neighborhood, Roscoe Village, and so, the original “Hollywood” was born. Mr. Selig’s most famous film was called The Reveler. This film inspired us to pay tribute to the film by naming our establishment, located in the heart of Roscoe Village, after the film. Here at the Reveler, we look forward to Reveling in the festivities, parties, and watching sports games whenever you are in the neighborhood, see you soon!
